Spring is here! Now it’s time to get out enjoy some healthy fun. Ross County offers many walks and runs during the year. Especially in the warmer months. This month there are four different events. They offer a walk or a run. Whichever you prefer! So if your ready to compete get out there and run or grab a group of friends and enjoy a good walk! Either way you are out there!
The City Run is an annual 5k race in Chillicothe that is sponsored by Open Door Church. This year the city run is on April 16th. Registration will open at 6:30 am and the race will begin at 8:00 am. The City Run proceeds go to wherever the city of Chillicothe needs it most! So this run is not only good for you, but it’s good for our city too! In 2014 the run was able to provide $5,000 to the city fireworks and in 2015 $10,000 was raised for the Yoctangee Bridge renovation (scheduled for Spring 2016). Unioto High School will be having a color run April 16th. Walk, jog or run your way toward a healthier life while helping Unioto Students raise funds to go to France! The color run is open to everyone in the community. You can check in at 8:00 am and the run will begin at 9:00 am. The My School Color Run is an untimed fun run on a designated 3.1 mile (5k) course! The Tri-County Triangle Trail is flat and mostly shaded, following a scenic creek with beautiful vistas, bridge crossings, no road crossings, and friendly volunteers! The marathon will begin at 9:30 am on April 16th. The trail is open to other uses, so use caution and be courteous. The Tri-County Trail marathon will have both a half marathon that is 13.1 miles and a 5k that is 3.1 miles. 5k walkers are welcome to join as well! Half-marathon participants should be at least 16 years old. Fruit drinks and water will provided at the start and when you have reached the finish line a meal of ham, beans, and cornbread will be waiting! Water will be available at water stations along the route. If you are looking to have a casual walk that is a little more laid back then get out and Walk with a Doc! On April 16th at 10:00 am join one of Adena’s physicians and other people in the community at the Carlisle Building that our looking to improve their health and well-being! The goal of Adena Health System is to encourage healthy physical activity in people of all ages. Each month you will be able to get out and “walk with a doc”. There will be a short discussion of various topics then will be followed by a walk! Lunch will be provided for all participants. No registration for this event is required!
