About the Ross-Chillicothe Convention & Visitors Bureau

The Ross-Chillicothe Convention & Visitors Bureau is driven by a passion for sharing the places and experiences that make Ross County unforgettable. Working hand-in-hand with local partners, the Bureau highlights the community’s vibrant downtown, scenic landscapes, cultural assets, and welcoming spirit. Every marketing effort—from advertising campaigns to visitor services—is designed to spark curiosity and encourage deeper exploration. At its core, the Bureau champions the stories, people, and experiences that give Ross County its warmth, character, and enduring appeal.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Ross-Chillicothe Convention & Visitors Bureau is the growth and prosperity of area economic development through tourism. The Bureau’s primary focus is to assist, attract, and educate residents, travelers, and partners. It will function as an economic driver of the hospitality industry in general through promotion of extended or overnight visits to the areas of Chillicothe and Ross County, Ohio.

Discover Historic Chillicothe

The Ross-Chillicothe Convention & Visitors Bureau works to raise awareness of Chillicothe and Ross County as a must-see destination for travelers. Through a strategic blend of print and digital advertising, travel shows, and public relations, the Bureau showcases all the experiences that make Ross County a unique and authentic place to visit. 


The Bureau partners with a wide network of tourism-related businesses which include lodging facilities such as hotels, bed & breakfasts, and short-term rental properties, as well as state parks, the National Park, historical & cultural sites, restaurants, retail shops, theatres, and many others throughout the county. Partners receive complimentary listings in the official Ross County Visitors Guide, on the Bureau’s website, and within the Visit Chillicothe Ohio mobile app. 


Beyond marketing Ross County as a destination, the Bureau supports partners with brochure distribution in the office, partner referrals, sponsorship opportunities for attractions, access to the annual Promotional Grant Assistance Program, and the Brochure Assistance Program. Additionally, the Bureau supports community events, maintains an up-to-date online calendar of events, and collaborates with county and community leaders to strengthen economic development tied to tourism. 


Funding for the Bureau comes from lodging tax revenues generated by lodging facilities. These funds are administered by the Ross County Commissioners, supplemented by an annual investment from the City of Chillicothe. 

Founded in 1982, the Ross-Chillicothe Convention & Visitors Bureau is a 501(c)(6) non-profit organization governed by a Board of Directors and staffed by three full-time employees dedicated to promoting the region.
