It looks like we are finally going to get the spring weather we have been waiting for. If you are tired of being stuck indoors and are ready to get outside to have some fun then Chillicothe will be the place for you to be this Saturday.
The Ross County Sportsman & Wildlife Club will be having their Annual Mushroom Hunt this Saturday. Registration will begin at 8:00 am. The hunt can be held on any public or private land as long as you have permission. Participants must be back to check in their mushrooms by 3:00 pm. Plaques will be awarded for the biggest and most mushrooms. A scavenger hunt will be held for children 12 years and under, with plaques awarded to the winner. Refreshments will be available.
Wanting to do something good for the community? Join the Chillicothe Green Team and clean the banks of the Scioto River, an “Adopt-A-Waterway” location! Volunteers will meet at the last parking lot on the right side in the Chillicothe Annex at 10:00 am. Teams will also go off site to clean the river banks at Stawser Park and Shawnee Wetlands. Participants should wear old clothes, rubber boots and bring gloves. The river cleanup will take place rain or shine! Refreshments will be provided for the volunteers.
Earth Gathering will be returning to the lawn of the Pump House Center for the Arts located inside of Yoctangee Park. The Earth Gathering is an art festival with an Earth Day theme. This event was designed to entertain, educate and inspire the public about nature, creativity and sustainability. Learn about and enjoy earth-friendly art, music, food, products and other great ideas. Purchase handmade art and great music from local artist. It all follows the annual “Scioto Waterway Cleanup” that takes place earlier. This is a family friendly event that everyone will enjoy.
Of course we also have multiple walks and runs discussed in last weeks blog. For more information on these events and more please check out our event calendar.
