The Majestic Theatre is the oldest continuously operating theatre in America. The building of the Masonic Hall on the present site of the Majestic Theatre (in 1853) marked the beginning of better entertainment in Chillicothe. Many big names have graced the stage throughout the years as the Majestic Theatre hosted vaudeville shows and operas. Some of these famous names include: Milton Berle, Laurel & Hardy, Sophie Tucker and many more. Present day, the Majestic Theatre hosts concerts including the annual concert by country music star, John Berry, as well as, concerts by Phil Dirt and the Dozers and Beatlemania Magic.
Chillicothe’s Civic Theater holds their productions on the stage of the Majestic throughout the year. The Majestic Theatre also holds a monthly musician’s workshop to help local aspiring instrument players, singers, and performers and continues to partner with local groups to host movie nights. Tours are available of the historic theater by making prior reservations.
