The Lucy Hayes Heritage Center is the restored birthplace of First Lady, Lucy Hayes. Lucy Webb Hayes was the wife of the 19th U.S. President, Ohio’s Rutherford B. Hayes.
Lucy was born in the small frame home on August 28, 1831. Lucy was a kind woman, with great moral courage. She was the very first “First Lady” to be called so by the press. Lucy discouraged the use of alcohol in the White House which gave her the nickname “Lemonade Lucy”.
To celebrate and honor the life of Lucy Hayes the Friends of Lucy Board would like to invite you to the Lucy House on August 27th, 2016. From 2:00 – 4:00 pm they will be having an Ice Cream Social in honor of Lucy’s Birthday. There will be cake, ice cream, and beverages served. Entertainment will be provided by Robert Hess on the piano.
From 1:00 – 2:00 pm prior to the Ice Cream Social they will also be giving tours of the beautiful, historic home. Admission is just $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for children.
