Ross County’s next festival takes place this weekend with the Frankfort Sunflower Festival just 13 miles northwest of downtown Chillicothe in downtown Frankfort, Ohio. Celebrate the summer (and sunflowers) during this event that features live musical entertainment, crafts, concessions, contests and more.

The Frankfort Sunflower Festival opens Friday night at 5pm. Beginning at 5:30 the audience will get to hear local groups followed by the southern gospel group Soul’d Out at 7:45pm. Saturday’s musical entertainment includes the Great Seal of Ohio Band, Willow Creek Band, Takin Back Summer Band, with McGuffey Lane closing the night with their performance at 8:30pm. Closing out the live music portion of the festival on Sunday, will be The Sodbusters.

The festival offers a craft tent where you can find vendors selling their unique items. Of course, there will be plenty of concessions offering your favorite festival foods. In addition to these staples of a festival, you will also find a Sunflower Show/Contest, rides and games, a car show, corn hole tournament, horse pull competition, Adena Warrior Challenge Course competition, and a kiddie tractor pull.
There will also be a 5K run, pancake breakfast at the firehouse, a Baby Contest, pie auction, and on Sunday a worship and praise service. No festival is complete without a grand parade, and the Frankfort Sunflower Festival doesn’t let us down, their Grand Parade will take place on Saturday at 3:30pm.

Frankfort is a village within Ross County, Ohio that sits along the north fork of Paint Creek. As of the 2000 census, the population of Frankfort was 1,011. Frankfort is the ideal small and quaint village with a total area of 0.6 square miles.
Frankfort was originally called Oldtown and was laid out in 1816. However, Oldtown was renamed to Frankfort in 1834 and became incorporated as a village in 1827.
