Veterans Day Tours of Chillicothe’s Grandview Cemetery 2021
November 11, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm
Two walking tours of Grandview Cemetery’s funerary architecture, history, and natural aspects on and after November 11th.
If you missed my spring tours of Chillicothe’s scenic landmark burial ground, join me for two opportunities for my guided tour of it this fall – with a nod to those buried there – 11am/12 noon Thursday, November 11th, 2021* and 2pm Sunday, November 14th, 2021.
Local historian and guide Kevin Coleman will speak on the graveyard that was there before the cemetery, the funerary architecture and symbolism in the monuments, the historic quarry at the rim, the history around the site, the geology of the location, and even what you see in the grand views.
Starting at the Renick stone wall, I will use my outdoor voice so everyone can hear me as we stay safe in the fresh fall air. It will be $10 for adults, $5 for students, and $15 for families (three or more family members with child/ren). Pay ‘at the door’ with cash or check.
You are responsible for your own health and safety on the tour. If the weather is more than a light rain or is too cold for a medium jacket, that tour will be cancelled.
Contact Kevin Coleman at [email protected], 740 / 775-4036, or as “Intrepid Heritage Services” on Facebook. Reservations are not needed, but you can learn more on the Facebook page.
*I will end in time for the 1pm Purple Heart Monument Dedication in Veteran’s Memorial Park between Park Street and Yoctangee Parkway at Chestnut Street in Chillicothe.
