In 1946, the Hunter Smith family donated the Adena estate to the state of Ohio, and in 1948, the first restoration of the house began. In the spring of 1953, Adena Mansion opened to the public. The second restoration of the mansion was in 2003. What was the estate like during those years of restoration and the years in between?
