The Stars Above, the Mounds Below
June 25, 2015 @ 7:00 pm
FreeThe Robert L. Harness Lecture Series. Hopewell Culture National Historical Park is pleased to host the summer archeological lecture series.
The Hopewell people were sky-watchers as evidenced by alignments to lunar and solar events present in their great geometric earthworks. But there were other entities in the sky – stars, constellations, nebulae, and our galaxy – that were of extreme importance to them. The geometries of the earthworks and their alignments reflected their beliefs in the sky world and their associated practices in this world.
