Steven Riggs Exhibition
June 29, 2016 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
The Pump House Center for the Arts is proud to host the art of Steven Riggs of Circleville, Ohio. Steven is originally from Detroit, Michigan. His family moved to Central Ohio in 1971. Steven has been obsessed with art from an early age with a special passion for the Renaissance era paintings. His graphite portrait drawings are a beautiful example of photorealism. His oil paintings include both landscape and figurative works.
Steven maintains a studio in Columbus and Circleville and continues to exhibit in many of the Short North Arts District galleries. He also does commission work. He has taught adult and youth classes at the Groveport Cultural Arts Center and the Decorative Arts Center in Lancaster. His work is in many private and corporate collections.
In conjunction with Steven’s artwork, we will be featuring a retrospective exhibit of glassworks by local artists, Lewis Woodruff and Judi Weilbacher. Lewis holds a degree in Liberal Arts from the Ohio State University and Judi, a degree in Art Education from Bowling Green State University. The couple teamed up at the internationally known Penland School of Crafts in the mountains of North Carolina where many artisans still study each year. Although they work together, each has their own signature pieces. Lewis is unmatched in his bonsai trees which are little colored trees suspended in solid crystal cylinders. Judi creates faceted clear mass shapes encasing circles of colors with the floating hues creating unusual shapes when viewed from different angles.
The Exhibition runs from June 2nd through July 3rd. The Opening reception will be Thursday, June 9th from 7 – 9 pm. Come meet the artists and enjoy this exciting exhibition, light refreshments, wine and music.
