Junction Paddle

Join Aaron Rourke, Director of Rivers Unlimited, and Dwayne Seeling, owner of Waters Edge Canoe Livery, on a river float to arrive at Junction by water, just as the ancients would have done.

The Paddle is timed so that paddlers will arrive on the shores of Paint Creek at the foot of Junction Earthworks well in time for lunch and the festivities. The Livery will provide a shuttle back to the cars.

About Paint Creek

Paint Creek has been nominated by Waters Edge Canoe Livery to become the state’s fifteenth Scenic River, and Rivers Unlimited is helping with the designation attempt.

On this trip, you’ll learn the high points of the river’s geology and ecology, and why it’s so special. We’ll bring nets and scoop up river critters in riffles along the way! We’ll probably catch plenty of darters – fish experts come from all over the world to the eastern US to see our darters!

Long Trip: 8.5 Miles
$20 per Kayak (1 person)
$30 per Canoe (2 people)

We will paddle from Blain Highway through the very scenic Paint Creek gorge in Buzzard Roost Preserve.  Meet at 7:30 am at Junction Works (directions) to leave your vehicle and catch the shuttle. We’ll be in the water by 9:00 am and will arrive at the Junction Works by noon.

Short Trip: 2.5 Miles
$15 per Kayak (1 person)
$20 per Canoe (2 people)

We will paddle from Waters Edge Canoe Livery (directions) at 10:30 am, joining the long trip when it arrives at the livery. Meet at 10:00 am at Junction Works to leave your vehicle and catch the shuttle.

The two groups will paddle the last 2.5 miles to the Junction Works together, arriving in time for lunch at about noon. After the afternoon’s festivities, you are free to leave at your leisure because we’ll already be back at the same location as our vehicles.
