The new exhibit at the Pump House Center for the Arts will be “Light and Line”, which features a retrospective look at the artwork of Polly Campbell Boles and the sculpture and art of her daughter, Dawn Zarbakhsh.
Polly Campbell Boles studied briefly at the Texas Christian University, the Dayton Art Institute and the Provincetown Workshop. She earned a BFA and a MS degree from the Ohio University. She received several awards for scholastic achievement.
Polly belonged to several art related groups including the Chillicothe Art League. Her long career as artist, teacher and lecturer included having been a charter member of The Friends of Trisolini; volunteers who founded Ohio University’s first art gallery. She formed and for several years headed its Docent Training Program.
Polly has shown her work throughout Southeastern and Central Ohio and in galleries in Ohio Michigan and Florida.
Dawnn Zarbakhsh grew up in the heart of Ohio University’s main campus. She attended its elementary school and graduated from Kent State University with honors. She earned a BA in art history with a concentration in Museology and a minor in Fine Arts. Her education served her well in her job as an art account representative in the design industry throughout Florida. She and her family returned to Ohio where she and her husband are business owners.
With the children grown there is now time for various kinds of art: sculpture, pastel drawing and music. Dawn is currently working on a large, life size garden sculpture and has won prizes and shown in various venues.
