Ongoing Research at New & Old Earthwork Sites in Central Ohio

Presented by Jarrod Burks. Ohio is home to hundreds of earthwork sites with enclosures – more than plenty to keep a team of earthworks researchers busy during the year! In this presentation I will explore some of the results from recent work in and around central Ohio, including excavations and magnetic survey at Ross County sites such as the Anderson Works and the newly discovered Winegardner Circle. I’ll also showcase an exciting new way to map earthworks in high detail using drones, with results from the Snake Den Mound Group in Pickaway County. There is nothing wrong with having fun while doing archeology.
