Holidays at Adena
December 10, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
An event every day that begins at 10:00 am, repeating until December 11, 2016
Step back 200 years into the home of the Worthington family for a special holiday tour. Celebrate the holidays at “Holidays at Adena” on November 26-27, December 3-4 and December 10-11 from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm.
Adena Mansion and Gardens will be decorated in 19th century yuletide splendor and will sure put you in the holiday spirit! While Adena is closed for the winter season, we re-open for the holidays for three weekends only. Guided tours of the beautifully decorated mansion will be offered every half hour beginning at 10:30 am with the last tour at 3:00 pm. Our Saturday, December 10th tour features “Christmas with the Worthington Family,” interpreted by youth volunteers.
The Tenant House will be decorated to reflect the German traditions brought to Adena by many of the indentured servants who worked here. Visitors will find a Christmas tree, handmade decorations and offerings of German cookies and mulled cider which will reflect the heritage of the immigrants. There will be craft activities for children.
At the Visitor’s Center, live entertainment and refreshments will be offered. Reproduction children’s toys, books, holiday decorations, books and other unique items will be available for sale at the Adena gift shop. Elsewhere on the grounds, horse and carriage rides will be offered at an additional charge.
General admission to Holidays at Adena will be $9 for members of the Adena Mansion and Gardens Society and $ 10 for non-members. During Children’s Weekend, December, 10-11, one child for each adult paying admission will be admitted free of charge. Mansion tour times are every one-half hour beginning at 10:30 am, with the last tour of the day promptly beginning at 3:00 pm.
