Grandview Cemetery Walking Tour 3 – June 14, 2020
June 14, 2020 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm
$5 – $15A second encore walking tour of Grandview Cemetery’s funerary architecture, history, and natural aspects
If you couldn’t join me for my tours May 25th or June 6th, here’s my last encore this spring – on Flag Day in Chillicothe’s scenic landmark burial ground, from 2pm to about 3:30pm on Sunday, June 14th, 2020.
Local historian and guide Kevin Coleman will speak on the graveyard that was here before the cemetery, the funerary architecture and symbolism in the monuments, the quarry at the rim, the history around the site, the geology of the location, and even what you see in the grand views.
Starting at the Renick stone wall, I will use my outdoor voice so everyone can hear me as we stay safe in the fresh air and sunshine. It will be $7 for adults, $5 for students, and $15 for families. Pay “at the door” with cash or check. This is limited to about 30 attendees.
Please reserve via Facebook or email. Contact me at [email protected], 740 / 775-4036, or Facebook message. If the weather is inclement or otherwise cancelled, the tour will rescheduled and those who have contacted me or watch Facebook will be notified.
The tour begins near the Renick stone walls (two stars on the map), ends near the cell tower (near 4 on the map)…and can be extended to the gazebo / bandstand (no. 6 on the map).
