“Goosetown” walking tour of Chillicothe
September 29, 2019 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
$15.00Enjoy an Oktoberfest “Goosetown” walking tour by Kevin Coleman on the afternoon of Sunday, September 29th, 2019.
Learn about many aspects of Chillicothe’s working-class German neighborhood named after the residents’ floating livestock.
You’ll see and hear about workers’ cottages with scherenschnitte attic vents, a Romanesque butcher’s castle…canal and railroad superhighways…Camp Bull and Camp Sherman…a carriage factory and an 1890s scandal-sheet newspaper…Worthington’s Addition and Franklinton Pike…Limestone Road, Wharf Street, Angle Alley, Camp Sherman Road…potted chrysanthemums to state forests…and more!
This 2019 walking tour from 2pm to about 4pm starts and ends at Springdale Garden Center at 533 North High Street in Chillicothe, Ohio, with parking in front and back. Arrive early at 1:45pm possibly a Goosetown show-and-tell.
Tours are $12 reserved, $15 at the door for adults – and half for students who will listen and learn! The Goosetown tour will be on level sidewalks and a few alleys, crossing several streets, with a practical limit of 20 to 25 tour takers.
If the weather is inclement (very cold, or a hard rain or worse), I can notify anyone with tickets or reservations (ticket arrangements TBA).
