Goosetown Part 2 Walking Tour in Chillicothe, Ohio
October 11, 2020 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
$5 – $15In my “Old West End pt. 5” walking tour, continue learning about local architecture and history, as I show the north tip of Goosetown that I could not include in Goosetown 1. This neighborhood is the north ends of High, Church, and Vine Streets in Chillcothe’s Old West End.
Learn about many aspects of Chillicothe’s working class German neighborhood named after the residents’ floating livestock. You’ll see and hear about workers’ cottages with scherenschnitte attic vents…Camp Bull and Camp Sherman, a carriage factory and an 1890s scandal-sheet newspaper…Worthington’s Addition and Franklinton Pike…Limestone Road, Wharf Street, Angle Alley, Camp Sherman Road…and more!
We’ll start and end at the pleasure garden of “Reescape” 596 Church Street, covering parts of Church and High streets, and more.
The approximately hour to hour-and-a-half tour starts 2pm Sunday, October 11th. If the weather is more than a light rain or too cold for a medium jacket, it will be announced to be postponed to Saturday, October 17th.
It will be $10 for adults, $5 for students, and $15 for families (three or more family members). Pay “at the door” with cash or check. This is limited to about 25 attendees for safety and practicality on the tour.
