Chillicothe Railroad Sites Caravan Tour
June 18, 2022 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Railroads are a manly hobby, so join Kevin Coleman on a driving tour of some of Chillicothe’s railroad history in honor of Father’s Day.
Meet at the cabooses on West Water Street Saturday, June 18th, and we’ll caravan / carpool to various sites in Chillicothe from 4pm to about 6pm (allowing a break for dinner before the manly Kenworth Truck Parade starting downtown at 8:30pm).
If you want to entertain father on his day, I’m offering the same tour 2 to about 4pm Sunday, June 19th. The cabooses are open noon to 3pm, so arrive early for a visit there (about half an hour) – no admission fee, but donations are welcome.
Five railroads were built into or through Chillicothe from about 1850 to 1905, so I’l fit in as many stops to existing and lost tracks as possible within an hour and a half.
Railroads in chronological order: M&C / B&O Ohio Division, SVRR / N&W, trolleys / streetcars, D&SE / CH&D / B&O Midland, SVT. (Sorry, no DT&I, K&A / Karshner, Camp Sherman, or C&O.) See my “Railroads of Ross County” PDF for information.
More soon! Watch for posts.
