Memorial Walking Tour of Chillicothe’s Historic Grandview Cemetery

Local historian and guide Kevin Coleman will interpret the family graveyard that was there before the hilltop cemetery, the funerary architecture and symbolism of all the monuments, the historic stone quarry at the rim, the history around the site, the geology of the location…and even what you see in the grand views of Ross County and Chillicothe, Ohio.
Join me for a guided tour that compliments the annual Memorial Day ceremony there (later, on May 25th). My tour will be 10am to about noon on Saturday, May 23rd, 2026 (after the veterans graves are flagged for Memorial Day starting at 8:45am).
The tour begins near the Renick stone walls (two stars on the attached map), ends near the cell tower (near no. 4 on the map), and can be extended to the gazebo / bandstand (no. 6 on the map).
The tour is for a maximum of about 25 people, and is $10 for adults, $5 for students, and $15 for families (three to six family members including child/ren). Pay at the site at with cash or check.
Reservations are not required, but you can do so through [email protected], phone 740 / 775-4036, text 740 / 771-8574, or message from this Facebook page. If the weather is inclement (like needing umbrellas or coats), the tour will be rescheduled and those who have contacted me will be notified.
