DESCRIPTION:Join us on E 2nd St in downtown Chillicothe on Saturday\, September 20th from 3p-10p for this year’s 6th annual family friendly Oktoberfest.  Once again Petland will sponsor the much-anticipated Wiener Dog Races in the Majestic courtyard starting at 4pm.  We will also provide a Kids Station where we will have face painting\, hair braiding and other kid’s things.   This evening you can dance the night away to local music\, enjoy some traditional German fare and beer or try your luck at the beer chugging\, yodeling or stein holding contest. This event is a State Qualifying Venue for the chance to compete in the Ohio State Championship in stein holding.  The winning male and female gain entry into the Ohio State Championship for a chance to win at state level.  For a chance to win “best dressed”\, come dressed in your best dirndl\, lederhosen or German garb.  Admission is $5.00/per person or $3.00/per person if wearing German clothing. Proceeds go towards the downtown flowers and the downtown Christmas lights.

DESCRIPTION:Before Sand in the Streets takes over on Saturday August 16th\, Battle on the Beach will return for its 2nd year on Friday August 15th.  This is a chance for the local area high school volleyball teams to get involved and battle it out on the sand!  Only it’s NOT the players competing\, it’s their coaches and family members.   They will be battling it out for a chance to win $1000 for their child’s school volleyball program.  In 2024\, Southeastern High School took home the trophy\, who’s it going to be in 2025?  Come support your favorite school!  High school kids attending the games can enter for a chance to win an iPad\, 2 iPads will be given away this evening.  Battle on the Beach will take place on N Paint\, Friday August 15th from 5:30p – 7:30p.  Don’t leave after the games\, BeachFest will then take over immediately after.  See you on the “beach”!

DESCRIPTION:A day of kindness does exist! Join us downtown in your yellow gear as you experience and perform random acts of kindness to business owners\, shoppers\, peers and basically anyone you see. All the while you will also be available to receive someone else’s random act of kindness they are performing. An act of kindness may be a simple “hello”\, it could be handing out a yellow item which signifies kindness\, or it could be an encouraging message your share with the community. Hundreds of school age children are bussed to the downtown in the morning for this event\, taking to the streets to create a sea of yellow and many businesses come out on the sidewalks to welcome the children and hand out their kindness. Let’s make someone’s day brighter\, we could all use a little cheer!

DESCRIPTION:Join us on E 2nd St in downtown Chillicothe on Saturday\, October 7th from 4p-10p for this year’s annual family friendly Oktoberfest.  This year Petland will sponsor Wiener Dog Races in the Majestic courtyard starting at 4pm and we will also provide a Kids Station where we will have face painting.   This evening you can dance the night away to tunes from Hazel’s Roadshow and Mulgee Run\, enjoy some traditional German fare and beer or try your luck at the beer chugging\, yodeling or stein holding contest. For a chance to win “best dressed”\, come dressed in your best dirndl\, lederhosen or German garb.  Admission is $5.00/per person or $3.00/per person if wearing German clothing. Proceeds go towards the downtown flowers and the downtown Christmas lights.”

Thanks to Herrnstein Automotive Group\, Adena Health System Orthopedic & Spine Institute\, & Fifty West Brewing Company- Chillicothe\, year three is bringing some exciting new components to Sand in the Streets tournament. Mark your calendars for the last Saturday in August and join us downtown for more fun in the sand and come cheer on your favorite team. SUMMARY:Christmas in July Sip & Shop
DESCRIPTION:Join us for this 3-day Sip & Shop event\, July 21 – 23\, where you can participate anytime that you wish!  Don’t feel like going every place in one day?  Then break it up a little each day.  Each passport costs $30 and will include 1 drink voucher valued up to $10 that can be redeemed at one of the participating establishments.  Get your passport stamped at each alcohol location to be entered into a drawing for a gift basket.  This winner will be drawn by Downtown Chillicothe.  The passport also has entry tickets for each of the 12 participating retail shops that you will submit into their box for a chance to win a $50 item from their store.  Each retail shop will contact the winner of their drawing.  Remember\, each participating retail shop does allow DORA drinks\, so feel free to grab your favorite drink and go shopping!!
