DESCRIPTION:You’re invited to celebrate Constitution Day on Tuesday\, September 17 at Ohio University Chillicothe with a panel discussion entitled “Freedom of Information Past and Present in the Public Library\,” taking place at 4 p.m. in the Bennett Hall Theatre.\nFrom the selection of materials in the collections to celebrations of cultural events like Pride Month and religious holidays\, public libraries are on the frontlines of freedom of information issues. Our panel will explore the historical role of libraries and the modern challenges posed by disinformation and social media.\nThe discussion will be moderated by James Hill\, Executive Director of the Chillicothe and Ross County Library. Panelists include Erin Lyons\, Enrichment Director\, and Jenn Slone\, Access Director from the Chillicothe and Ross County Public Library; and Drew Wichterman\, Director of Pickaway County Library.

SUMMARY:GOSPEL Screening and Panel
DESCRIPTION:Ohio University Chillicothe\, in partnership with WOUB Public Media\, the Chillicothe Ross County Public Library and the Ross County NAACP\, will host a screening of selections from the new PBS docuseries GOSPEL followed by a panel of local Black church leaders and music experts. GOSPEL is a new four-hour docuseries that explores the rich history of Black spirituality through sermon and song from executive producer\, host\, and writer Professor Henry Louis Gates\, Jr. This Black History Month event is co-sponsored by the Chillicothe Ross County Public Library. \nPanelists Beverly Gray\, local historian and director of the David Nickens Museum; Ric McConnell\, a local gospel choir director and worship leader; and gospel musician Linda Wilson will react to the film and share perspectives on local Black Church history and music.
