One Year Ago:  Junction Earthworks Saved from Development.
Last March, an American Indian earthworks site on the banks of Paint Creek on the south side of Chillicothe was purchased off the auction block through the efforts of a small coalition of non-profits. The intense public fund raising campaign that immediately preceded the auction –literally just days before – went down in history as one of Ohio’s most successful  grass-roots campaigns ever conducted on behalf of land conservation.

TODAY: A New Public Park & Preserve is in the Works! Although Junction’s current level of development is not yet ready for daily public access,  we are opening our doors on this day so that the public can preview the park, hear about its master plan for fullest development and timelines, tour the earthwork ruins, and hike the river trail that has already been established along the 1.25 mile of protected corridor bordering Paint Creek.

Guided Bird Hikes & Creek Paddle require pre-registration
