Laboring Downtown – Tour of Historical Industries in Chillicothe 2021
September 6, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
$5.00 – $15.00An annual Labor Day weekend walking tour of the small historical industries in downtown Chillicothe, focusing on Water Street from Park Street to Mulberry.
Chillicothe’s historic downtown was not just for white-collar jobs. The canal, railroads, utilities, mills, small factories, warehouses of all kinds, liveries, restaurants, printers, a brewery, a shoe factory, and even a river wharf, are some of the working-class employers in and near the business district – many of whose buildings still stand.
For about an hour and a half, join Kevin B. Coleman for two opportunities for the same walking tour on Labor Day weekend 2021 – between 2 and 4pm Saturday, September 4th, and 10 to 12 noon Monday, September 6th.
You can learn more from Kevin on his “Intrepid Heritage Services” Facebook page, or contact him through [email protected] or 740 / 775-4036.
Tours begin where parking is welcome at 152 W. Water Street, opposite Park Street, and runs east on Water Street to about 55 East Water in Chillicothe, Ohio, USA.
Tours are $10 for adults, $5 for students, and $15 for families (three or more family members). Please pay with cash when you arrive.
The tour will be on sidewalks and pavement, with some tree shade. And, your health is your responsibility!
If it’s too rainy to go without an umbrella, or above about 95 degrees, Saturday’s tour will be postponed to the Monday date, and Monday’s to 2-4pm Saturday, September 11th.
