March 4, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

Free

Yay or Nay! Ohio became a state in 1803, but not without conflict! Now it’s your turn to witness the fiery, historic debate over whether Ohio should become a state or remain within the Northwest Territory. Visitors will step back in time to 1802 and witness this historic debate highlighting Territorial Governor Arthur St. Clair’s and Representative Thomas Worthington’s differing plans for Ohio’s path to statehood. Tour Worthington’s historic mansion and see where the “Father of Ohio Statehood” lived and worked.

This program is being presented as part of Ohio Statehood Day. Admission for this special event is offered at no cost. The grounds and museum will be open between 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. The “Debate over Statehood” times are scheduled for 11:00 am, 12:00 pm, 1:00 pm, 2:00 pm and 3:00 pm. Special themed mansion tours will also take place every half hour beginning at 10:30 am with the last tour departing at 3:00 pm.
