Fourth of July Weekend

Fourth of July Weekend

We will be celebrating Independence Day this Monday! The anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence in 1776.

On the 4th of July we love to celebrate with family and friends at barbeques, enjoying the fireworks, playing with sparklers and more. Please remember to use safety while enjoying your July 4th weekend. Ross County will be celebrating all weekend long with special events for the holiday.

On July 2nd Adena Mansion & Gardens will be having a Red, White, and Blue Ice Cream Social. From 10:00 am – 5:00 pm stop by and enjoy the festivities at Adena Mansion & Gardens. Enjoy homemade fruit cobblers and root beer floats while listening to a variety of musical performances at the barn. Lawn chairs are encouraged.

The History Store in downtown Chillicothe will be celebrating on Saturday as well! From 10:00 am – 5:00 pm the History Store will have Living History Displays and a storewide sale. They will have special guest, Ken Osen from W. Britain Toy Soldier Company. Historic displays, reenactors, and toy solider artists all be available to interact with and learn from.

Also, that night Chillicothe Social Society present the Red, White & Brew Bar Crawl! The Red, White & Brew First Capital Bar Crawl will take you on a mini-tour of Historic Downtown Chillicothe stopping at four popular local bars. Participants will have to collect something at each stop and produce all 4 tokens when you reach the Dock at Water to be entered for a Grand Prize. The first stop will be at Steiner’s Speakeasy located at 31 S. Paint Street at 5:00 pm. After that the group will leave and head over to Crosskeys, Fire & Stone, and finishing up the night at The Dock at Water with live music by the Chili Sauce Band. Participants must be over 21.

Sunday, July 3rd continue your celebrating at Adena Mansion & Gardens to celebrate Independence Day the way they did two centuries ago as you are transported back in time to experience the holiday like it was celebrated in the early 1800s. This Independence Day Celebration is part of the 2016 Adult Lecture Series and will take place at the picnic pavilion. Activities will include readings of portions of the Declaration of Independence, patriotic poems, a presentation of the flag, a toast to George Washington and 21 gun salute by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard! There is no charge to attend this lecture and it begins at 2:00 pm.
