“Two Ladies” Exhibition

October 12, 2014 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Free

This exhibition includes works of art by Mary Wile of Westerville and Phyllis Michael of Jackson. Featuring oil/watercolor/acrylic paintings, pencil/chalk/ink sketches, and sculptures.

Mary Wile studied at the Cleveland Institute of Art, the Dayton Institute of Art, Rio Grande University, & the Columbus College of Art & Design.  She has taught art to high school students & adults at the Worthington Alternative School and workshops at Rio Grande University and at the Friendship Village of Dublin.

Mary is well known for her portrait paintings that she has been painting since she was 16.  “I’ve always been fascinated with the human face.  It tells the story of our lives, each expression a moment in time, and a key to the character within.”  Oil and watercolor have been her traditional mediums, but while painting interior murals she’s learned to appreciate the fast drying, yet solid qualities of acrylics and has enjoyed using them in her portrait work.  Mary will also be displaying her landscape paintings that have been inspired by our National Parks.

Phyllis Michael studied at the Columbus Academy of Art & Design, Rio Grande University and Ohio University.   Since taking her first painting class more than 30 years ago, Phyllis has been passionate about all things art.  Her body of work extends across a multitude of mediums that include oil, pastel, watercolor, pencil, chalk, ink, sculpting and the culinary arts.

Phyllis has been an active participant in the Foothills Art Festival in Jackson having displayed at that event every year since its beginning.  She has been honored to display her works at the Markay Cultural Arts Center and other area venues.

In addition to producing wonderful works of art, Phyllis is an avid patron of the arts.  She is currently on the board of directors of the Southern Hills Art Council and has been heavily involved in the renovation and restoration of the Markay Cultural Arts Center in Jackson.
