The Beaver Hypothesis: Bluebirding before the 17th Century

November 27, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Free

Dick Tuttle presents “The Beaver Hypothesis: Bluebirding before the 17th Century”. While investigating the question, “what made bluebirds habitats before settlers created farms across North America?” He was led to form the hypothesis that beavers once created the most common habitats shared by Eastern Bluebirds and Tree Swallows. The beaver hypothesis represents a blend of information gleaned from more than two dozen scientific papers extracted from four university libraries, and nearly five decades of field experience conserving and studying Easter Bluebirds and Tree Swallows. Dick Tuttle is a retired middle school life science teacher that religiously monitors and maintains nearly 400 bluebird nestboxes on eight bluebird trails and Tree Swallow nestbox grids in Delaware County.
