Earth Day at Hopewell

April 22, 2017 @ 8:00 am - 4:00 pm

Celebrate Earth Day with a visit to Hopewell Culture National Historical Park. Enjoy a self-guided walk through the beautiful 2,000 year old Mound City Group earthwork, work towards earning the park’s Junior Ranger badge or participate in one of our special programs:

8 a.m. Earth Day Bird Walk
Enjoy a guided walk with a birding expert along the 1.0 mile shaded nature trail that winds around the perimeter of the earthwork and along a stretch of the Scioto River. Learn birding basics and fun facts while taking in the songs of spring.

11 a.m. Yoga in the Park
Bring your own yoga mat, blanket or towel and enjoy a beautiful morning in the park as you stretch the body, mind and spirit. If weather does not permit an outdoor class, we will gather in the visitor center auditorium. Classes last approximately 60 minutes. This is the first in a series of Yoga in the Park programs that will be offered at Hopewell Culture National Historical Park this year.

10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Hopewell Gardening
Visitors of all ages can learn about Hopewell gardening while planting their own sunflowers to take home.

To learn more about park programs, visit www.nps.gov/hocu or call 740-774-1126. The Mound City Group Visitor Center is located at 16062 State Route 104, Chillicothe, OH 45601.  The visitor center hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., seven days a week throughout the year. Park grounds are open dawn to dusk. Pets are welcome, on leash.
