Annual Friends of Lucy Meeting

The 2018 annual meeting of the “Friends of Lucy Hayes” will be 2pm Saturday, June 30th at the “Lucy House.”

The Friends are the nonprofit group who manage the Lucy Hayes Heritage Center at 90 West Sixth Street, the birthplace of Chillicothe’s First Lady of Ohio and of the United States.

Board President David Tillis will give his annual report, and a slate of officers will be voted upon.

“Friends of Lucy” – Everyone Welcome. The President will give a report along with the financial report.

The guest speaker is Aaron Rourke [“rork” – photo attached], who has interests in historic and prehistoric preservation and nature conservation.  He is the president of “Rivers Unlimited” and a board member of the Heartland Earthworks Conservancy.

Rourke will speak on his efforts to help develop the Junction Earthworks, and his hope to see a recreational trail developed from there to Paint Street at the 1813 stone Mary Worthington Macomb House – as well as managing the Chillicothe / Ross County Land Bank to deal with abandoned houses…all of which impacts heritage tourism in the region, including the Lucy House.
