Dwight Whaley is an artist born in Chillicothe who at a very young age moved to Florida. He was raised on the west coast in Sarasota, where his art influences began. The art culture of the Ringling Museum of Art and the Ringling School of Art, along with the active art scene, drew him in.

Moving back to Ohio as a young adult, he began working on 3 dimensional art, using materials he collected from nature. Five years ago, his 3-D art was purchased by Joe Perry, the lead guitarist for the band Aerosmith. This purchase led him to become more serious about his talent and led him into the world of painting. He started with acrylics and taught himself through videos and practice. Influenced by the street artists in Florida, he decided to take the painting to another level. He incorporated the techniques he learned in oil and acrylic painting and applied them to the “street art” medium of spray paint. Dwight believes that art is not just a pretty picture, but rather the paintings should reflect a spiritual or deeper statement. Dwight resides in Chillicothe along with his wife Cindi.
