Adena Mansion & Gardens was the 2000 acre estate of Thomas Worthington, sixth governor of the State of Ohio and father of Ohio’s Statehood. The mansion, completed in1806-1807 has been restored to look much as it did when the Worthington family lived there.
Situated on the 300 remaining acres are five outbuildings and formal gardens. The gardens are filled with heirloom flowers, trees and vegetables. Looking east form the north lawn, visitors can see the view depicted on the Great Seal of Ohio.
The Museum and Education Center features interactive exhibits that connect people to life in Ohio in the early 1800’s.
